Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have:
  • A high school diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
To be a good fit for the Instrumentation & Electrical Technician opportunity, you will have a rounded skill set including: 
  • A minimum of 1 year of technical experience in an industrial environment performing instrumentation and electrical work required; 3-5+ years of experience is an advantage. Quick question for you - click here
  • Experience navigating and troubleshooting AB PLC systems and AC Inverter Drives. Quick question for you - click here
  • The ability and drive to become proficient with the following:
    • Performing diagnostics and setting up PLC and AC Inverter drives; experience with Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and Powerflex drives preferred. Quick question for you - click here
    • Troubleshooting a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems.
    • Repairing and/or replacing electrical components.
    • Reading/comprehending electrical schematics.
    • Obtaining a PIV equipment license (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one-man lift, etc.).
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office Suite applications (e.g. Word and Excel); experience with CMMS or other maintenance software is a plus.
  • The desire to be empowered and to work in a collaborative environment where you will:

Preferred but not required: 
  • An associate's degree or certificate in Electrical Technology or a related field. Considerations will be made for relevant experience including from the military. 
  • Experience supporting instrumentation and control loops for temperature, pressure, tension, and flow.
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical systems.
In addition to these requirements, you must be able to work a 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday day shift for training. You could remain on that shift for up to 3 months. Post-training, you will be moved to either a 7 am to 7 pm first shift on a 2/2/3 schedule (which includes some overtime); or a 2 pm to 11 pm Monday - Friday second shift. 

The Role

About the team and shift
You’ll join a talented team including fellow I&E technicians, mechanics, and a seasoned supervisor who has a mentoring leadership style. It's a great, cohesive team with a nice mix of experience and talent.

Daily responsibilities
Reporting directly to the I&E Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing instrumentation and electrical maintenance functions to support our Charlotte facility's equipment. You will deliver ongoing maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment within the plant.

Success will require a high level of skill/expertise in the areas of inspection, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of all electronic and electrical plant equipment and systems. You will use your troubleshooting skills daily. 

Specific duties will include:
  • Performing electrical calibrations and preventative maintenance.
  • Understanding and safely using test equipment such as volt, Ohm, current meters, megohmmeter, oscilloscopes.
  • Disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling production equipment.
  • Installing and verifying correct instrument installation.
  • Supporting new equipment installations with point-to-point verification prior to start-up.
  • Providing revisions to electrical schematics and procedures, when needed.
  • Documenting detailed job notes in CMMS.
  • Operating PIV equipment (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one-man lift, etc.).
  • Repairing and/or replacing electrical components.
  • Cross-training in mechanical systems and other maintenance disciplines; continuously learning and developing maintenance skills.
  • Training other maintenance personnel on I&E systems and personal areas of expertise.
  • Working collaboratively with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel; leading and participating in cross-functional teams.
  • Following all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures; planning safety into projects and tasks.
