The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a Visa transfer of Visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Development Lab Technician opportunity, you should also have:

  • 1 to 2 years of lab experience in an analytical or R&D environment; professional experience is preferred but we will also strong internships
  • Experience with data collection and data analysis
  • Familiarity with lab equipment, including chemical handling procedures  Quick question for you - click here
  • Experience in organic synthesis, polymerization, or materials science is a plus
  • Experience in chemical formulation is a plus
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • The ability to understand and comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements and best practices; a commitment to safety
  • The ability to physically wear and utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 
In addition, you will have demonstrated:

You will work a Monday-Friday day shift. Typically, the day shift is 8-5, but there is some flexibility if needed (up to +/- 1 hour in either direction). You will work a set schedule.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Applications Supervisor, as Development Technician, you will work with and support the Coating R&D team including the Technical Manager, to whom you'll indirectly report, three engineers and yourself. You will support coating R&D by utilizing lab coating equipment and helping with formulation work in order to execute experimental programs. You must be able to maintain constant quality awareness and be able to apply chemical knowledge while formulating and coating. Quick question for you - click here
More specifically, you will:
  • Support coating engineers with development of chemical formulations and product testing
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures, safety procedures, and environmental practices
  • Manage chemical inventory and laboratory supplies
  • Develop SOP’s and specifications for project equipment
  • Conduct technical studies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new tests and procedures

  • Maintain quality checks on safety and cleanliness of laboratory

This is a newer and growing area for Celgard which compliments our battery separator technology and supports Electric Drive Vehicles and other applications. Because you will come in as an entry-level Development Lab Technician, you'll find that there is a lot a learn. You'll learn about Celgard, our processes and procedures as well as coating technology. It will be essential to remain open, flexible and adaptable as you take on new skills and responsibilities. You'll also be committed to keeping Celgard technology and information confidential.
