Broad visibility
The effort to maximize CRM utilization has strong support from senior leadership, and there is a good deal of enthusiasm for the potential. You'll also establish a robust network of contacts in the sales & marketing organization around the world.

Keys to Success

You've heard the expressions before: "like drinking from a fire hose," or "like changing the tires while the car is doing 60 mph." This job won't be easy, but if you're the person we're looking for, it will provide the kind of challenges you thrive on. There will be a learning curve, and it will be steep. You'll need to be on your toes from day one, putting what you learn to work as soon as you've learned it.

If your background is stronger on the business process side or the IT side, you'll need to take a proactive approach to mastering the other side as well. Ideally, you will be able to conceptualize the big picture. For example, if a sales leader asks for tools related to pipeline velocity, you'll not only know what "pipeline velocity" means, but you'll also know where the right data lives in the system -- or you'll be able to learn it quickly.

You'll be a change agent, driving adoption of new systems and processes. This will include forging paths and getting people on board the bus . . . and that means you'll need to help build a very attractive bus. To do that you'll need a strong connection with the user community, based on understanding and credibility. We believe that the way to achieve that is to establish personal, direct relationships with users. They'll need to see your investment in creating a system to help them succeed -- see that you've rolled up your sleeves and put your fingerprints directly on the system.

Establishing these kinds of relationships will require an extra level of effort. Traveling to meet them face-to-face will help, but you'll also need to convey your commitment over the phone and via email. You'll do plenty of talking to get the message across, but listening will be just as important.
