  • 3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering/Continuous Improvement

  • Floor experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), particularly the ability to manage and execute complex Excel functions such as tables, formulas, graphs and pivot tables

Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will collaborate and communicate across functional departments to complete the two main halves of your role:

Maintaining standard work -- You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the standard Industrial Engineering work is defined, measured, monitored, and offers proper incentives to ensure that manufacturing is optimized in terms of variability reduction and constraints management.

Helping to drive positive change through continuous improvement -- You will have main responsibility for running and implementing suggestions from the employee-based continuous improvement suggestion program. In addition, you’ll gain experience as you help the Section Leader to implement or maintain Lean project work as needed.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be managing our manufacturing systems, including production reporting systems. In the morning you’ll walk through to ensure there are no issues from the night shift. Throughout the rest of the day, you’ll maintain reporting for the systems, and implement and report on any continuous improvement projects in the works. While your general work schedule will be Monday-Friday 8-5, at least a once per week you’ll have a scheduled swing shift (about noon-8) to get face-to-face time with the night shift team.

We have a team of four non-exempt trainers who are currently managed by the Section Leader. If you have experience managing people, or at least the willingness and aptitude to learn how, you could have the opportunity to help lead or lead this team as a career development step.

Some of your specific tasks will be to:
  • Work safely and ensure safety considerations are paramount in any work outputs that you influence.
  • Participate fully and evolve the Lean and Value Stream culture.
  • Create and maintain Standardized Work in all production areas, as well as any incentive programs in production.
  • Collaborate with the training department to optimize methods and workflow.
  • Manage the Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Provide manufacturing analysis as required by the organization.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for Customer Quality complaints, as required.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to technicians.
  • Challenge “status quo” by developing and recommending modifications to existing processes and methodologies with a constant focus on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Provide written and oral reports as required.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to drive and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the IT development group to complete project requests, and support IT development projects from inception through testing and completion.
  • Work in a high performance, team-centered work environment to support overall plant goals.
