The Requirements
To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:- A bachelor's degree in Science or the Engineering field.

- Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Experience with behavior based safety and/or environmental programs.

- Experience developing ES&H department budgets, capital plans and annual goals and objectives.

The Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, your mission will be to manage all of the environmental, safety and health activities to ensure compliance with all regulations at our Charlotte facility. We take enormous pride in our dedication to safety, so we will look to you to keep this plant safe and maintain and ultimately improve upon these efforts. This position is the key ES&H authority to ensure systems are in place to maintain a safe and healthful work environment; which includes systems to keep this facility in compliance with all of the ES&H requirements, regulations, industry standards and systems to provide ES&H guidance for day-to-day operations.Working closely with a variety of internal departments including Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality, you'll act as an adviser to these groups on projects, tasks and initiatives related to ES&H. You will also be responsible for preparing, maintaining and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals and will be expected to stay abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the facility. In a nutshell, you will work to ensure site compliance with all ES&H regulations at all times.
You will be involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and will make recommendations accordingly. Additionally, you will also be involved with coordinating the development of the ES&H aspects of the chemical procurement and hazardous waste handling, shipping, storage and disposal. As Manager, ES&H, you will have 2 direct reports -- an Environmental Coordinator and ES&H Coordinator. You will also have a dotted-line reporting relationship with our Global ES&H Manager for Corporate goals, directives and progress reporting. You will supervise, review and drive the personal development of your team.

To excel in this role you will need to be able to influence people in a cross-functional environment, listen to input, build consensus and help people understand how ES&H programs support their interests and objectives. You'll play a key role in making sure our leadership and their various departments and teams are on the same page and completely on-board with all ES&H initiatives.In addition, in order to be an outstanding Manager, ES&H, you will be a results-oriented leader, but also a team player. We're not looking for a safety cop, but rather a creative person who can find solutions and employ innovative, preventative problem solving skills to resolve issues that come up. In the event of an emergency situation, you will act as a primary emergency responder, but it's important to note that you will have the support of the management team, where everyone pulls together as one cohesive unit.
