The Role
As Electrical Engineer - Control Systems, you will be responsible for specifying, programming, start-up and continuous improvement of our manufacturing control systems; the position will also have the opportunity to perform control system design depending on experience level. This role includes multiple functions relating to the development and integration of software systems to improve process reliable, performance and efficiency. You'll be responsible for developing and managing software updates on manufacturing equipment; facilitate the collection and analysis of process data from the plant floor, troubleshooting and problem solving where needed. You will support Allen-Bradly PLCs, drives, HMIs and servos; Mitsubishi PLCs; Wonderware SCADA system, and plant control network. Additional skills in Visual Basic, Visual Studio, Access, and SQL Server Reporting Services are beneficial. You'll have a PLC Technician to assist you as you:
- Desig, code, and troubleshoot plant automation and data collection systems.
- Identify and analyze production problems in order to control and improve manufacturing processes -- developing control strategies and variability reduction to optimize current products and sustain continuous improvement projects.
- Implement systems and provide support as needed.
- Work collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff.
More specifically, your job responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance and installation of SCADA, DCS, HMIs, and PLC Systems using specialized programs and tools.
- Installation and maintenance of network equipment such as switches and routers.
- Develop the skills and facilitate developing solutions utilizing Visual Studio, .NET, and SQL.
- Management and development of software and databases to support analysis of manufacturing process data.
The Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need:- A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics/Instrumentation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
- At a minimum, five years of experience in a similar position within a manufacturing environment.
- Three years' experience with PCs, PLCs, I/O, sensors and process controls.
- Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience is preferred.
- Experience in programming Visual Studio, .NET, SQL, etc.
- Knowledge of software with programming experience in higher level languages such as Visual Basic.
- Good understanding of electrical and/or piping and instrumentation drawings.
- Understanding of PLC, PID loop control and other control system schemes.
- Proven experience with PLC logic and programming PLCs; specifically Allen Bradley ControlLogix, PanelView+.
- Skills in HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of Wonderware or Rockwell software packages.
- The ability to build an effective team, focusing on positive team characteristics, evaluation, motivation, support and employee development.
