Job Duties:
- Reporting directly to the ES&H Manager, the ES&H Specialist is responsible for the coordination of the Environmental, Safety, and Health-related programs and activities within a fast-paced, plastics manufacturing environment. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and perform safety audit process/system (includes conditional/traditional and behavior/observation-based systems)
- Sponsor site safety committees and other safety-based project teams
- Update, maintain, and conduct new-hire, visitor, and contractor ES&H training
- Perform pre-start-up safety reviews (CER’s) of equipment
- Perform, facilitate, or assist with hazard risk assessments and provide feedback and/or solutions for safety/environmental concerns
- Perform Incident investigation and reporting; create and facilitate action plans; track and drive investigations to completion.
- Perform New Chemical Approval requests (SDS review) and maintain and update the SDS library for location
- Manage proper classification, labeling, storage, and shipment of hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous wastes.
- Maintain the site’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
- Maintain systems and develop reports for CERCLA/SARA notifications and reporting (SARA 302, 311, 312 Tier II, and 313)
- Perform relevant reviews to ensure Safety and Environmental compliance (e.g. Air/water permit trigger limits) for the site
- Create, update, and deliver ES&H related training
- Create, update, and maintain ES&H related procedures to ensure compliance with ES&H related regulations and company policies and best practices.
- Perform, facilitate or drive other ES&H related activities to ensure site compliance with related regulations and company policies and best practices.
- Maintain relevant ES&H records and documentation for training and inspections / audit.
- Collaborate and demonstrate good communication with team members both within the department and cross-functionally to meet objectives; participate on cross-functional teams; lead meetings
- Utilize KPI's (key performance indicators) to gauge performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Work in a high performance, team-centered work environment to support overall plant goals.

Education:
- Minimum:Bachelor’s degree in science, industrial hygiene, environmental, or relevant field.
Work Experience:
- Any or all of the following work experiences (or related experiences) are preferred:
- 3+ years experience in ES&H.
- Application of general industry OSHA safety standards (29 CFR 1910) in a manufacturing environment.
- Leading different safety programs (OSHA, condition based, behavior based)
- Hazardous-waste and non-hazardous waste management (RCRA)
- Storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) preferred
- SDS (Safety Data Sheet) review and management
- ISO14001 EMS
- Developing and delivering Safety and Environmental training
- CERCLA/SARA
- Special Skills:
