This positions offers the opportunity to make an impact as you help staff and support our plant in Concord. Right off the bat you acquire solid resume building experience assisting in the staffing of non-exempt roles. We are forecasting growth over the next five years as the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) & Electric Drive Vehicle (EDV) markets develop. Celgard is a recognized global leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing battery separators that are used in high performance lithium-ion battery applications. What Else You'll Bring to the Table

In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience, OR a Masters in Human Resources Management and two year of HR experience.  
  • PHR or comparable certification
  • Experience in non-exempt recruiting within a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including AAP compliance requirements
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to accomplish demanding timeline objectives, multitask on assignments and be comfortable and adaptable to change and continuous improvement
  • Sound judgment and the ability to develop and articulate policies and procedures
  • A strong sense of ethics and values
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing setting and being out on a plant floor. The facility requires you to wear a clean suit when on the floor.
  • The ability to travel between the Charlotte and Concord locations, which are less than 30 miles apart. This could be up to 20% travel.

Position Specifics

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager in Concord, North Carolina, you will join a team of two other Generalists that are located in Charlotte, North Carolina and Shanghai, China. Also a Human Resources Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As you join our team, we expect you to quickly gain a thorough understanding of our people, policies, products and systems to begin making a real impact. You will focus on accomplishing the following goals within the first six months:
  • Manage full cycle of non-exempt recruiting (sourcing, interviewing, job offers, post job offer activity, on-boarding, and orientation) in the recruitment effort for nonexempt personnel and temporary employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel procedures, policies, and working on common method projects between the Concord and Charlotte plants
  • Administer HR policies and procedures
  • Manage leave of absence (FMLA, Medical and Worker’s Compensation)
  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program and complete the annual EEO-1 report
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and department results in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, processes, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and the services performed.
  • Update and maintain HR information and record keeping, and compile reports from the database
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment

To excel in this role, you will balance your time between being in the plant interacting with employees and being in your office handling paper. You should be comfortable around machinery and on manufacturing floor.
 
To be successful you’ll need to know how to make things happen. It will require strong communication and interpersonal skills, foresight, initiative, and follow through. You should be approachable, friendly and trusted resource for our employees, able to counsel when necessary. To take this role to the next level, you’ll need to be a teacher and a learner.  Your focus will be goal and objective oriented and your approach will remain that of a continuous learner as your skill and the positive evolve.
