While many manufacturing sectors are contracting, our lithium battery business (you'll find our products in cell phones and laptops) is expanding, with no slowdown in sight.As we complete a 25% expansion of our facilities, you will take a partnering approach with production and R&D in ensuring we are utilizing best quality practices. Pivotal to your success will be your enthusiasm for investing time out on the production floor with technicians and engineers. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a BS in a relevant discipline and 3-5 years experience with manufacturing quality, including ISO-9001 or QS-9000. A background in plastics manufacturing or blown film is preferred but not required. We're looking for a professional with the ability to communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, and plant management. Celgard is a recognized global leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing battery separators that are used in high performance lithium battery markets. Celgard battery separators are polypropylene and/or polyethylene electrolytic membranes that offer excellent product uniformity, strength, chemical stability, and energy performance. More About Your RoleIf you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.You will join seven other Quality Professionals, focusing on procedures, ISO compliance, and customer issues. The facility now covers more than 300,000 square feet, including warehouse and distribution, and employs almost 340 people. Essentially our manufacturing occurs in two phases. First, we extrude large, multi-ply polypropylene and/or polyethylene sheets, and then roll and process the material. In the second phase -- the one in which you'll be involved -- we separate the sheets into a single ply, cut the material to customers' specs, inspect it, and package and ship it. If you happen to have a strong background in extrusion, we may consider involving you in the first phase. We'll look to you to roll up your sleeves and become very familiar with the people, equipment, and processes on the production floor. In addition to assuming ownership of current quality systems, your mission will be to identify opportunities and innovations to drive continuous improvement. This will include developing metrics and other monitoring processes. Your specific activities will include:
