While everyone is feeling the impact of the economic downturn, Polypore International, our parent corporation, has not only maintained a strong liquidity position but recently reported sequential improvement in sales and earnings from the first to the second quarter 2009.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have at least 10 years of sales experience, including a strong background in technical value added sales, ideally in the battery industry or electronics, selling membranes or electronic materials, or components. We're looking for a professional with a four-year degree, preferably in a technical field, and significant experience managing key accounts with large Korean chaebols (Samsung, LG, etc.) or large multi-national accounts. You also will need fluency in the Korean language and knowledge of Korean customs and business practices, as well as good English language capability.

You will report to the Vice President of Sales & Technical Service, based in corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and work closely with the Vice President of CKI, our Korean business unit. In turn you will provide leadership to a Technical Service Director in Ochang.

You will call on and develop relationships with Procurement Directors, General Managers, and comparable contacts to promote all Celgard products, but with a particular emphasis on a technology that is new to us, Li-2 battery separators manufactured using a thermally induced phase separation process (TIPS). This is often referred to as "wet" technology. Your goal will be to get Celgard technologies in on the "ground floor" of new product development, and also convert existing products to Celgard technology.

More specifically, your activities will include: You should be prepared to travel overnight up to 20% of the time. You also will come to the US for your initial training and orientation, and will make one to two trips to the US each year. Additionally, you may travel to Tokyo and other international locations.
