In this high-impact position you will lead a team in completing the commercialization of a new technology and bringing a brand new manufacturing facility on line. This new technology enhances Celgard's portfolio, already the broadest in the industry, and we expect it to drive significant growth in the very near future. While other manufacturing sectors are contracting, we're on a "rising tide" -- Polypore International, our parent corporation, recently posted sales of $310.0 million for the first six months of 2008, up 19% from the same period last year -- and as the tide rises, so does the whole boat and everyone on board.
Working closely with the Managing Director, you will provide the technical leadership not only to launch the technology and facility, but also to enhance our competitive edge. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have significant experience in the film industry and strong knowledge of polyethylene processing experience, ideally UHMWPE processing. You also will need experience with process and equipment design, and a working command of English. We're looking for a professional with an established industry reputation as an innovator.
Celgard is a recognized global leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing battery separators that are used in high performance lithium battery markets. Celgard battery separators are polypropylene and/or polyethylene electrolytic membranes that offer excellent product uniformity, strength, chemical stability, and energy performance. We have posted double-digit growth year over year for the past several years. We have aggressive strategic plans to double sales, revenue, and our bottom line over the next five years, backed by strong cash flow and a highly profitable business model.

Polypore International, through Celgard, recently acquired Yurie-Wide Corporation. Now known as Celgard Korea, Inc, the company specializes in the development of monolayer polyethylene separators for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. In addition to adding this new technology to our portfolio, the acquisition provides us a manufacturing base in Asia. This acquisition will strengthen Celgard's ability to continue supplying the major Asian battery manufacturers, enhance its ability to service its worldwide customer base, and provide opportunities to serve new customers.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will provide leadership to an Assistant Manager of R&D as well as Engineers and Technicians. Over the first few months you will focus on completing the commercialization of the new technology and getting the facility up to full production speed. Once we are ramped up, your main objectives will include:

Proprietary Celgard trilayer membranes are a leading industry standard in rechargeable lithium battery applications. They are typically used in electronic applications such as notebook computers, cellular telephones, digital cameras, and other high performance devices.
In addition, Celgard is the global leader in supplying battery separators for disposable lithium batteries used in photographic equipment, medical devices, and various military applications. Other energy storage technologies that use Celgard battery separators include vented nickel-cadmium aircraft batteries, zinc-air hearing aid batteries, and supercapacitors.
